Book Description:

Getting Between Jack…

Orphaned at a young age, Legs Anderson owes her Aunt Ada everything. The stoic old lady raised her, and Ada’s warnings about men—and the Harris boys in particular—have stuck, even after her death. Of course, that could be because Ada stuck around, too.

…And His Legs

Patience is not one of Jack Harris’ virtues, and he’s waited too long to start a life with the woman he’s loved since childhood instead of them just knocking boots. Now Ada is interfering from beyond the grave, haunting the old Victorian house she bequeathed to her niece and reinforcing Legs’s fears of commitment.

But Jack won’t give up. No matter what trouble may follow, the house will be renovated, Ada will learn to let go, Legs will put her money where her mouth is… then Jack’ll put his lips everywhere else.

excerpt

"Move in with me, dammit. You’re the most stubborn woman I ever knew.”

Legs topped his coffee cup with fresh brew, easy as you please. “No more stubborn than you, since you keep askin’ the same old question. I have my own place.”

Jack frowned and stabbed his egg yolks, making them run. “Then let me live with you.”

“In my aunt’s house?” Legs asked like he was crazy.

“It’s your house now.”

“I’m trying to fix it up. I have to patch and paint. There’s no room for your things.”

“I’ll help you and then you’ll have plenty of space for me. And my stuff.”

Her ponytail shook with her reply. “Ada won’t like it. She’ll think it’s immoral.”

Jack leaned forward. “You talk about her like she’s still with us. She’s been gone over a year, sweetheart.” His voice dropped an octave and his brow creased. “Don’t you think she’d give in after all this time?”

Legs wrinkled her nose. “No. She thinks you’re a wanderer.”

Jack tossed down his fork. “I own a sporting goods store! I go fishing!”

He touched her hand when she got close enough and drew little circles around her wrist bone with a fingertip. The preschool teachers from Let’s Explore stifled sighs at the next table. “It’s time to let go, darlin’.” His expression turned earnest. “She raised you, I know. But I want to be with you now. It’s time to let me in.”

“Not if it means letting her go. I’m sorry, Jack. I just can’t do that to her.”

Jack sighed and returned to his breakfast. “We’ll talk about this again tomorrow.”

authorinterview

When did you first consider yourself a “writer”?

I’ve been writing stories since I was a child. I’ve been published since I was nineteen, although I wrote exclusively for newspapers and magazines until twelve years ago, when I made the transition to fiction and completed my first novel. I published erotic romance under another pen name for several years with publishers whose names you’d recognize, before making the switch to mainstream stories as Adele Downs.

Do you do another job except for writing and can you tell us more about it?

I write full-time. Publishing has been my career since 2006, when I sold my first novel.

What is the name of your latest book, and if you had to summarize it in less than 20 words what would you say?

LIP SERVICE is my new release. Jack Harris has loved Legs Anderson since they were kids. Now that he has her in his bed, he has no intention of letting her go. Aunt Ada has other ideas, even from the grave.

Who is your publisher? Or do you self-publish?

My publisher is Boroughs Publishing.

What can we expect from you in the future?  ie More books of the same genre? Books of a different genre?

I do have more books in the pipeline with my current publisher and am working on other books that are in various stages of completion. For a complete list of my published titles, please visit my Amazon Author Central page. All of my books are contemporary; but some feature cowboys, or firefighters and paramedics, and another has a Viking hero.

What genre would you place your books into?

My books are contemporary romance, some with a touch of magic or paranormal elements, like LIP SERVICE. I like to think our ordinary world contains a touch of magic.

What made you decide to write that genre of book?

I grew up in a household filled with books. My father read science fiction and thrillers exclusively and I believe his influence shaped my own tastes. I’ve never been much of a science fiction fan (sorry!) but I love thrillers and suspense novels. When I’m not reading romance, I’m reading thrillers and mysteries.

Do you have a favorite character from your books? And why are they your favorite?

The characters in my latest release are always my favorites. They are the hero and heroine commanding my full attention, though I love all the characters in my books.

Do you have a certain routine you have for writing? ie You listen to music, sit in a certain chair?

I’m fortunate to have an office inside my home where I can close the door, sit at my desk in my comfy desk chair, and write in peace and quiet. When I’m writing, I don’t like distractions, including music. When my characters are inside my head, I see and hear nothing else but them while I transcribe their story.

Do you read all the reviews of your book/books?

LOL. I usually do, yes.

Do you choose a title first, or write the book then choose the title?

Titles usually come organically while the story is being written. A phrase, symbol, or theme generates the title.

How do you come up with characters names and place names in your books?

Character names are important because they need to fit each character’s personality. I give a lot of thought to my character names. The heroine of LIP SERVICE, Linda Anderson, a.k.a. Legs Anderson, is a perfect example. You’ll have to read the book to find out why. J

Are character names and place names decided after their creation? Or do you pick a character/place name and then invent them?

The names and traits of my characters are developed in character studies before I begin writing my books. Each character is fully described physically and emotionally, including their front and back stories, until I can see them clearly in my mind. Once I know my characters, I develop their plotlines. The story twists and turns usually come organically after my characters become animated.

Which format of book do you prefer, eBook, hardback, or paperback?

I read almost exclusively on my Kindle, but I also like to read the occasional mass market or trade paperback. My own books are published digitally, but LIP SERVICE will also be available by print on demand.

What is your favorite book and Why?  Have you read it more than once?

Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden is my favorite book. The writing is lyrical and the story is riveting.

Your favorite food is?

Chocolate

Your favorite color is?

 Red

Your favorite Author is?

I honestly can’t choose one. There are several wonderful romance and thriller writers whose work I enjoy.
