Petyr has never found it necessary to consider the humans as anything more than distant, inferior beings–until now. They are the cause of the fatal disease that has plagued his realm, taking the lives of too many of his kind.
As a future leader of a realm in peril, Petyr must find a way to resist and cure the affliction. He must enter the unfamiliar realm, appear to be an ordinary eighteen-year-old human, observe and learn.
However, things don't exactly go according to plan. Instead of embarking single-mindedly on his sober mission, Petyr meets an 18-year-old girl who does things to his emotions that he can't quite fathom or control. Petyr is falling in love, and he almost forgets the gravity his choices have on his entire world. Despite the risk it poses to his life and hers, he wants to know her, and he wants her to know him–and his world.

Character Name: Petyr Crest
Petyr is one of the future leaders of his realm. A fatal disease, caused by humans, has brought him to their world. He’s on a mission to find a way to resist and cure the affliction. He is from a race known for their ability to travel to different worlds and hold vast amounts of information in their minds. He’s used to being in control until he stumbles upon a human called Scarlett, and then he never seems to stop stumbling.
Describe yourself in three words.
A shameful coward.
What is your favorite/least favorite thing about living in the human world?
As someone who is used to being the bearer of knowledge, I will never be comfortable in being surrounded by emotions, gestures, thought process and idiosyncrasies I do not understand. But Scarlett always makes me feel like I can learn, like I can eventually find my place in her world. More importantly, she makes me feel like I have the strength and the freedom to do so.
What is your biggest secret, something no one knows about?
I have two secrets, both rooted from my cowardice. I have to hide my true identity from Scarlett because I’m afraid she will not be able to accept me. I have to hide the extent of how I feel for Scarlett from my kind because I’m afraid I wouldn’t be able to protect her from them.
What are you most afraid of?
I want to say that I’m afraid Scarlett wouldn’t be safe from all dangers being with me could bring into her world. I care about her and her safety. Of course, I do. But the fear of her finding out the truth is what haunts me. I’m afraid to see the look in her eyes when she finds out my purpose in her world, the monster I can be.
What do you want more than anything?
I want to be brave enough to step out of the safety of my lies. I want to be free.
How much of a rebel are you?
Rebel. It’s been used to describe me recently. The word is a reminder of how much I’ve changed. The sound of it stings. With it, I hear reckless, weak, traitor.
What is your idea of happiness?
I know that it’s against all the odds for someone like me to ever experience the power, the immense happiness from the abstract notion the humans call love, and for a human, whom by nature embraced ignorance, to witness what I am and still look at me with affection is close to impossible. Yet, I still hope for it.
What is your current state of mind?
What is the most marked characteristic of your kind?
There are four races in my world, and I come from the one known for our thirst for knowledge and our ability to explore different layers of the universe.
What is your greatest regret?
I have so many regrets. Every decision I make seems to be the wrong one. But my greatest regret is for my arrogance and my ignorance. These led me to believe I could never lose control, and I could never be capable of committing the Forbidden.
What is the quality you most like in Scarlett?
She has an innate strength within her. She is fearless. She’s so feeble in her humanity, yet so strong.
What are the words you live by?
I will never give up.
