Character Interview and Giveaway: Layla Petrovich of The Harvesting Series by Melanie Karsak

Today we interview Layla Petrovich of The Harvesting Series. Let's get to know her.

Describe yourself what is your worst and vest quality?
I think my best quality is that I try to be a good person and to see right from wrong. I want the people around me to be safe and happy. My worst quality is that sometimes I trust the wrong people.

What is the one thing you wish other people knew about you?
I am a “wear my heart on my sleeve” kind of woman. People probably know too much about me as it is.

What is your biggest secret something no one knows about?
I am pretty sure I can hear the undead. I’m worried people will think I’ve gone crazy if they find out.

What are you most afraid of?
Being turned into one of the undead.

What do you want more than anything?
To keep everyone I love alive, especially Jaime.

What is your relationship status?
Does one “date” during the apocalypse? I have no idea. I am with Jaime for the time we have left together.

How would you describe your sense of fashion?
Practical, before z-day and after. Give me a pair of cargos, some sturdy boots, and a black pocket t-shirt, and I’m a happy woman.

How much of a rebel are you?
Rebellion is a bit outside my comfort zone.

What do you considered to be your greatest achievement?
I survived z-day. Moreover, I helped keep the people in my town alive.

What is your idea of happiness?
Before z-day my answer was quite different. Back then, I was stuck in a latte-driven waking coma. Now, if I can survive then undead and make my way back home to Hamletville, I would be happy.

What is your current state of mind?
Exhausted. Confused. Telepathic? I am not sure.

What is your most treasured possession?
My shashka.

What is your most marked characteristic?
I was a fencer before the world went to hell. People seem to remember me for my skill with my blade.  Physically, people always seem taken with my green eyes.

What is it that you, most dislike?

Which living person do you, most despise?
My job is to save the living from the undead. The undead are my problem.

What is your greatest regret?
Ian . . . not seeing Ian for what he was.

What is the quality you most like in a man?
Gentleness and compassion.

What is the quality you most like in a woman?
A brain.

Who is your favorite hero in fiction?
Luna Lovegood. I know what it’s like to be different. I love that Luna was different and strong. Her character always resonated with me

Which living person do you most admire?
I admire Frenchie. She kept her children alive during the apocalypse and fights ever day to ensure those girls are safe. That is how a mother should behave.

If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?
I wish I was more convincing. I wish I had been able to convince everyone to stay in Hamletville.

What is your motto?
Save the living.
