When you think of rapture, you think of ecstasy, bliss, elation, and things of that nature. In short, a feeling of intense pleasure or joy. Rush had that. Or rather, Rush has that in the beautiful Alika Collins. Alika brings forth everything he wants in a woman. The two literally crashed into each other’s lives, and their whirlwind love story is safely set on solid ground. But is it really? And if so, for how long? There are certainly things that can disrupt what they have just begun to build.
Recently, Rush was dealt a devastating blow: He has a young daughter who he never knew existed. After this life-shattering secret is exposed, Rush finds out that those close to him are the ones behind it all. Feeling betrayed, he instantly dismisses those individuals from his life. In his mind, their actions were unforgivable and mending fences is not of urgency. At present, his primary goal is finding, and forging a relationship, with his child. But while Rush is establishing this new phase of life, things are in disarray in the old life.
For one, someone wants Rush's father dead and will go to great lengths to make it happen. Then there’s the mother of Rush's daughter who wants more than to co-parent. This leaves Alika feeling the strain of it all while trying to remain by his side. Yes, things become chaotic. But, Rush is no stranger to chaos. Hell, he even has a club called Chaos, as a testament to where he's been and what he's made of.
But how much can one person take?
Rapture 2 brings many things to question, but it will be interesting to see how it all turns out in the end. Specifically, which relationships will remain intact, and which ones will be forever altered to the point of no return.

I was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, but raised in sunny California. I describe myself as a trilogy: A businesswoman who navigates through Corporate America flawlessly from Human Resources to Project Management, a Sociologist with a burning desire to save the world, and an Author who loves writing life into fiction.
While my pen and paper consummated when I was pre-teen, my written words would not be seen until a long time after. My dream was always to write a book, but I didn't take steps to do so out of fear that readers wouldn't be interested in what I had to say.
When I suffered the devastating loss of my first cousin, in 2006, with a few months left to complete my undergraduate studies, I barely made it through. A good friend not only suggested that I begin blogging, that friend gifted me with a newly designed blog platform, which birthed my first e-journal.
The blog opened a whole new world for me and served as a place I could express candidly, about life. When my blog was discovered and I began receiving compliments on not just my candor, but on my writing style, it fueled the fire, and thoughts of penning a novel resurfaced.
The lingering doubts of, "Who would even want to read your work?" were replaced with, "Worry about an audience later, and just do it."
And that I did.
I write what I like to call, "Multicultural Mayhem". I label it as such because you never know what will happen in my stories, but what is certain; there will always exist a multicultural cast who bring with them plenty of Sex, Cursing and Sass. Oh...and the occasional Happily Ever After.
I love producing intimate moments that aren't just about sex. There's heat, and there's passion. But, it's a sexy kind of intimacy that I love exploring through my characters. I enjoy seeing them connect on both intellectual and physical levels. That connection allows me to build erotic moments, with purpose, and satisfaction.
I plan to perfect my craft and delve into other genres, down the line. With "Amazon bestselling author," added to my list of credits, I am in the writing game for the long haul and have no intentions of putting down my pen any time soon.

“Anytime you want to climb on that pole again, Kai, I’m game.” Joel grinned. Wiping that smile off his face seemed near impossible. He’d been teasing me about it since the moment I climbed on top of the bar and danced. “You’re never going to let me live it down, are you?” I actually didn’t mind, not that I’d tell Joel. My cheeks burned remembering that night. Although I was just doing my job, I knew how turned on it made him. If it weren’t for the fact we were in a bar on duty, I’d have given him a lap dance. The neighbors at my place give me slack when I run into them getting the mail.” Joel whined and reached for my hip, pulling me against him. “Then why did you insist on sneaking over? You’re such a tease.” “I am not!” I playfully shoved his chest. I tried my best to keep my voice down to a minimum. It’s not that I didn’t like his kids, I just thought it was too early for us to be doing weekends together. Which is why I opted to sneak over after they were in bed. I didn’t think ahead to the fact that we’d have to keep our voices down and that Joel was a loud moaner during sex. Not that I was particularly quiet, but he had the tendency to make sure everyone could hear us. “Want to play a game?” he asked. His thumb stroked my hip, inching my shirt as the pads of his fingers grazed bare skin. “Like Monopoly?” I wasn’t in the mood for board games. Joel leaned his head forward, chuckling softly. He reached for me, brushing his lips against mine. I dragged my fingers into his dark, thick hair. “I had something more adult in mind.” “Oh?” My hands paused their ministrations, trying to image what Joel would have thought up. He struck me more as a strip poker kind of guy, but we were already half-naked. Where was the fun in that? Joel climbed out of bed and headed for his closet. I whimpered in protest. “Where are you going? I’m right here.” “I know a game that will be fun for both of us.” He brought one of his work ties out from the closet. “If you’re planning on tying me to the bed, you know we have handcuffs for that.” “No need. Unless of course you’re naughty. Close your eyes,” he said, and I did so, feeling the tie cover my eyes as he secured it at the back of my head. I was blindfolded. This was new for us. My heart skipped a beat. I trusted Joel, but it still made me nervous. “What do you plan on doing?” I asked. “Kai, you complained that I’m loud when we have sex. I’m going to make sure that you’re the one making all the noises. Better keep your voice down, I’m not sure I locked the bedroom door.”

 

Six Questions with the Author

What are you currently working on? I just finished writing the first book in the series Dystopian Reign. The first book is titled, The Victorian Shift. I started the second book late this afternoon and it's titled The Western Movement. It's an interesting blend of historical mixed with dystopian (and of course romance) that follows a twenty-five year old young woman that escapes prison when the facility is under attack.   Tell us a little about your release, Hot-Blooded Lust. Hot-Blooded Lust is the third installment in the Federal Agent Chronicles. Just like the first book in the series, Hot-Blooded Lust follows the life of Agent Kaitlyn Rivers as they investigate the murder of a fortune-teller, who happens to also be someone Joel knows.   Any more Federal Agent Chronicle stories in the works? Yes, Fire Licked is scheduled for release in November from Blushing Books. That novel is about a sexy fireman and follows FBI Agent Leslie Hunter.   How do you write so fast? Good question! I'm very prolific and also task-focused. This is my full-time job, so I treat it as such, spending at least eight hours a day in front of the computer writing (or at least attempting to). I concentrate heavily on meeting a word count daily when I write.   You always have fun swag. What's your favorite piece that you've made? I love making mini book charms as necklaces and also book boxes that feature my book cover. The book boxes are great for storing goodies when I have a book event. The necklaces (and also bracelets) tend to be a huge hit at events. Everyone always loves them and they're all handmade. I'm always sharing pictures of the goodies on Facebook.   Do you plan on writing any more YA books under your other name, Ruth Silver? Yes. I recently finished the prequel to Aberrant. It is titled, Cabal. I'm waiting to find out the release date for that young adult novella. I also am (still) working on the sequel to Elfinland (Orenda Book 2). It's half-written at 21k words. I just need to sit down and finish that novel as well.

At least the boy was taking his task seriously, the pixie decided, watching him raise up on his toes in an effort to gain a better look inside one darkened, upstairs room. Some guardians were lazy, but this one was not, which was just as well, she noted, as the small, shadowy figure of a child exited through the window and joined him. A few seconds later, the two flew off into the night sky. The children of humans could be a handful—the ghosts of them even more so, especially when they realized they were no longer among the living. It only made sense to appoint another child to deal with their sorrow and accompany their spirits to the other side.

The source of her attention currently gone, the pixie idly kicked into the open air. Small bits of dust sprinkled each time her feet touched the open mouth of the monster she’d been making a seat of. She glanced down, noticing his bottom teeth now sparkled like gold in the moonlight, giving him an even more ferocious look.

The poor thing looked dreadful, with long curling teeth and bulging eyes—nothing at all like her own pretty, golden self. She gave him a bright smile. Likely, that was the only kindness ever given the monster forever stuck up here on the edge of this roof, so she reached down and gave his hard cheek an affectionate pat before turning her attention back to the sprawling town below. After all, she hadn’t come to save this monster. She’d come for the boy and soon he would need her—but not nearly as much as she needed him.

About the Author

Jill Postlewait Meengs grew up in a small town on the Oregon Coast. During and after college she spent extended periods of time backpacking in more than 30 countries. She has been to every location she describes in “Trigger” and some of the content is based on her own experiences while traveling. She met her husband, Chad, in the MBA program at Oregon State University. After getting married, they purchased and fully remodeled a house. It was Chad who encouraged, and then bribed her to write her first book, “Trigger.” He says that he very much enjoys watching the flat-screen he purchased as part of their deal. When Jill isn’t reading or writing, she is running, doing yoga or planning her next trip. Jill and Chad live in the Willamette Valley in Oregon.
