Danny Warren has lost his father, had to move to a new town and now have a bully that just won't quit. After being send home after yet another incident, Danny stumbles upon a box and book with a dragon on them.   Fascinated Danny finds another world through the story and drawings of another girl. A beautiful world filled with magical creatures. Soon he longing for this world transports him to this very world. Only the beautiful world in the book and what he found was very different.

This world was dark and evil and Danny has to flee for his life instantly, until Ebby saves him.   He soon learns that an evil priestess have been turning the beautiful world of Dorcian black and the creatures within it too. With the help of a friend, the dragons and a few new magical creatures Danny soon finds himself I a war to end the evil and free Dorcian.  

Danny's character reminded me a lot about Harry Potter. He starts out scared and not knowing what to do, and then finds the courage to stand with his new friends and fight evil. I loved Ebby character. She is everything you would expected in a magical dragon, and even more. Courage, caring, protective and companionate all crafted into one being. Additional characters like Milly, Gor and Adel was great additions and made the adventure wonderful.   With so much adventure and magical creatures I had no trouble comparing it to other books. Eragon , how to train your dragon, Harry Potter and all that epic adventure books that kept us either glued to them of the movie screens.  

I will be keeping a close eye on this novel, because I believe that it's going to have an incredible impact on the book world. The illustrations in this book were phenomenal and I congratulate the illustrator on a superb job. Emily's writing style will suite old and young readers. It pleasant and the descriptive detail around this world and its creatures will ignite your imagination. With that said the wonderful illustrations gives you glimpses of what this world looks like and you can't help turning the pages and joining Danny on an incredible adventure.
